Winemaking
Several ICC Members make their own wine. It's easy, economical, and mostly a lot of fun. Every year, we have a homemade wine competition that's even more fun!
Scotzin Brothers is a local resource for winemaking supplies. However, every fall around Labor Day, we schedule a trip to Procacci Bros. in Philadelphia so that we can purchase supplies and wine must (grape juice) from California in 5 gallon buckets. We now also purchase wine must from Italy and from Chile.
The process of winemaking can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. Some of us stir up the grape juice in the plastic bucket, stick an airlock in the lid, and wait a few months to open it up and drink our all-natural, delicious wine. Others experiment with yeasts and sulfites in order to achieve their own version of vintnery heaven.
The Italian Coffee Club is a great resource for those interested in making their own wine. Email us with questions if you're interested!
